Gridlock Blocks
★★★★☆ 4.3
Gridlock Blocks looks like a dozen other block puzzles until it starts bending its own rules. You slide colored blocks to clear a board, but soon blocks freeze, split, or drag others along, and each mechanic gets its own chapter of levels. The pacing of new ideas is the best thing about it.
Controls are swipe-based and forgiving — you can undo freely, so experimenting never feels punishing. I appreciated that there's no timer; it's a thinking puzzle, not a reflex one. Some of the late chapters had me staring at the screen for ten minutes before the solution clicked.
If I'm honest, the between-level screens are a bit bland, but that's a minor thing. The actual puzzles are smart enough that I kept telling myself 'just one more' far too often.
What we liked
- Constant stream of fresh mechanics
- Free undo makes experimenting painless
- No timers, just pure thinking
