Emberfall Chronicles
Emberfall Chronicles is the kind of mobile RPG that respects your time but still gives you a proper adventure. You lead a band of exiles across a collapsing kingdom, picking up companions whose abilities genuinely change your tactics. Swap in the fire mage and encounters open up; bring the quiet archer and you learn to control the battlefield from a distance.
Combat is turn-based with a neat positioning layer — where you stand on the grid matters as much as what you cast. I spent a good hour just experimenting with formations before a boss, and winning felt earned. The writing surprised me too; the dialogue is sharp and the villains have actual reasons for what they do.
My only gripe is the inventory screen, which gets cluttered fast. But the core loop of explore, fight, talk, upgrade kept me playing well past bedtime more than once.
What we liked
- Companions that meaningfully alter strategy
- Grid positioning that rewards planning
- Genuinely well-written story
